New Ending Hana

This week during literacy we had to create a new ending for one of the characters in refugee. I really enjoyed doing this task because I love writing. This is the finished story of Hana I hope you like it. :)

Hana

At the start of my story I will tell you that Me and my family are drowning. That word is going to be part of my history for a long time because that was the last time I saw my family well. That was what I thought would happen.

We heard a motor coming our way. It sped past but Mahmoud, my big brother, grabbed on and begged for them to take me so I would not drown. After a while they agreed and that was the last time I saw my mothers lovely caring face. The boat that they had given me sped away and that was when the lady that was holding me started singing a lullaby. My eyes slowly closed while she was singing and she was stroking my hair.

Fish swam past my face as I dreamed about my pet goldfish that we had to leave behind but in this dream he was swimming alongside me in the water, protecting me from all of the things that I had not yet seen. That dream was one of the best dreams I ever had but sadly it didn’t last long because soon enough I was waking up.

When I opened my eyes the lady that had been holding me was lying beside me. Suddenly I noticed that we were on land, yes we were on land. I tried to yell out in joy but all that came out of my chubby face was goo goo gaga. It was devisting that I was still a baby and couldn’t say anything. The lady said that the others had dropped us off here and then they had sped away and yes it meant that we were all alone.

That night the lovely lady made a big hut and lined it with ferns and then she lit a fire to cook some fish that she had caught. To be honest I didn’t know how she did it but somehow she did. The night went smoothly and so did the many years that we had been living there. I am 9 now and I have learnt how to survive in the wilderness and I have learnt how to catch a good looking fish as well which is pretty awesome.

I also learnt that the kind lady's name was Amelia and now I just called her mum because I didn’t really remember my other mother that much which was sort of sad. LIfe went really well from then on. We added more onto our hut and it started to get so big that some rooms had nothing in them. My room was by far the best. I had the best bed made from flax and moss. It is SOOO comfy. We made a little kitchen which had things like a fire, a big rock slab for a bench and then wooden cutlery that I made and big leaves that we used for plates.

That is pretty much all of my story that I have to tell because to be honest my story was pretty good except that I didn’t know if my family were still alive or had drowned in the middle of the deep dark ocean!

Matariki Food DLO

This week we have been learning heaps about matariki! For this task we a to create a DLO showing the food that they eat during the time of matariki. Me and my friend Lucy did this slide together so make sure to go check out her blog as well. I really enjoyed adding all the facts and information in this slide so I hope you like it. :)

Geometry DLO

This week our task in maths was to create a DLO showing everything that we had learnt while doing the geometry tasks in our dragon maths. I enjoyed doing this task because you got to add heaps of colour and heaps of my favourite geometry tasks could be squeezed into the little google drawing! It was really fun. Hope you like it!!!
