Toki Film Festival Review

Toki Film Festival Review
The Robbery School:
Paroa school Created by:
Pippa,Caitlyn and Sammi Kia ora my name is Emma and I go to Karoro School. Their acting was really great, well done girls. I liked how they used their bike track and the beach for the scenery for their film. The sound quality was great as well as their voices. I think they could have worked more on the theme of Our Place because I didn’t really get it. I admired all of your slow motion work Ka pai!

It was awesome seeing all of the films in the festival but yours stood out, great job girls!

Information Report on Jumping spider

The Incredible Jumping Spider

Jumping spiders are a living insect. They are invertebrates, which means that they have no backbone. Jumping spiders are solitary witch means that they don’t work together. They can live for three whole years. There are many different types of jumping spiders all over the world.

 Habitat
Jumping spiders live in a web made out of their shiny silk but they don’t catch their food there. Some even live in houses in cracks or under old floor boards. You have to be careful where you step because if you have wooden tiles they blend in very well.

 Special features
Jumping Spiders make their houses with their own silk. They are not venomous. They are great dancers but all they do is wave their arms in the air. They hunt their prey on their fuzzy little feet. Their eyesight is very good because they have six eyes on their head they can see in every direction. They’re great at disguising when a predator is near.

 Food and Sleep
The jumping spider eats one main thing which is other insects. The way they do it is, they pounce on their prey from behind then use their strong jaws to eat it.

 Distance and Speed
The jumping spider is very speedy because it can jump about 10cm each jump, which is a lot for a little spider. If you try to catch one you have a high chance of it escaping your hand.

Predators
Birds are one of the predators to the jumping spider because they try and eat them. They protect themselves by mimicking another animal that is a predator of their predator.

 The importance of jumping spiders
Jumping spiders are very important because they pounce on other annoying insects and eat them. Without them we would have a lot of bad insects. Unfortunately they eat good ones too.

As you can see the Jumping spider is an amazing little insect.

Animation

WALT use animation slides. We used PNG to get an image that has a transparent background. It took a lot of patients to do this as it is 101 slides. I learnt how to put it on my blog with the help of Mrs Minehan. To make it move we had to change the bits where it said false to true in the link. If you want you could try it one day.

Division

WALT understand division problems. This is a piece of my book work. I learnt that division is the fact family for multiplication. My group has been doing Dragon Maths with the same sort of thing. If you find it hard to do division but you know times tables you can turn it into a multiplication problem to work out the answer.

Giving images a bit of oomph!

We are learning to mask our images to give them a bit of OOMPH! We got to explore the tool which was fun. The hard bit was that you had to chose a mask that didn't get rid of all of your image. I got the outline by going to the pen and clicking on it. When you have done that beside it there are some lines click on the lines and you can change the width of your outline. Maybe you could try it on some of your good work.

Friend Portrait ( Screencastify)

Today we made our best work into a Screencastify to share on our blog.
This is my favourite piece of work because I got to work on it with my friend Lucy.
Me and my friend Lucy took a bit of time making this.
Maybe you could try it one day?

The spider and the picnic

AO Integrate sources of information, processes, and strategies with developing confidence to identify, form, and express ideas I am learning to include visual information in my writing including images, graphs and charts. I am learning to revise and rework my writing for clarity, impact and purpose. I am learning to support my main ideas with important details.

                                                          The spider and the picnic!

Hi I’m Wilby the spider. Today is going to be a fun day because it's Saturday, that means its picnic day! I wait in the bushes in my snuggly silk web. The birds chatter, it’s time, it’s time. so I peek through a hole in the bushes. “There they are I say”. I tiptoe down my web on my little fluffy feet. I smell a woft of cake, mmm I'd like some of that. I run out of the bushes into the soft green grass. The humans look like giants! The food wasn’t too far away now but it felt like a very long time until I got there. I sneak under the blanket and see a little hole so I wriggle up and I'm stuck inside the cake. I'm happy now because there's all you can eat. I start with a small nibble, slowly getting bigger and BIGGER until the whole cake was hollow. I start feeling very full so I stop. Something is vibrating, what should I do? But I’m too late I'm already down the hatch. It’s a bit wet and soggy down here. Suddenly I hear a gag and I get coughed out into the sky. I'm very excited because I'm FLYING and it’s fun. Wait now I'm falling. I shut my eight eyes and hope for the best. I opened my eyes and I’m back in my web. “Well, that was a fun day I say”.

Respect

WALT use the word art tool to make a poster about RESPECT. Then we will blog about the process.

We had to do a poster of things to do with Respect. We used word art to do all the writing and got to test out the coloured lining. Changing the colour was fun. If we didn't know how to spell a big word we were allowed to use voice typing. It was great fun! 😆

Cartoon me

Kai Ora my name is  Emma from Karoro School.
We have been learning to create our own images using google drawing.
I had to take a selfie photo of ourselves.
We learnt to use the polyline tool which is found under the lines tool.  It is good because you could colour it in. We all finished by deleting our selfie. Then we put in a background.

Did you like it ? If you did you can have a go too.

Edward's Hut

                          My Family Adventure

Guess what, in the school holidays my family and I went on a tramp to Edwards Hut. We love tramping so it was a great opportunity for us.

Firstly we left home at about 9:30 a.m ish and I think that we started tramping at about 10:30 a.m. We had to walk across some of the big rivers that cut threw the stones. I felt unstable but mum was there to help me across to the other side.

Then we had go down a gravel part of the track that was a little bit scary but Dad told me to not give up, so I didn’t. I kept going even though it was hard.

After that we started walking threw some trees so I knew we were close to Edwards Hut. I was so excited that I nearly blew up, luckily I didn’t.

Out of the trees came DUN DUN DUN THE EDWARDS HUT!!! This time I really blew up, in my head that is, HA HA HA tricked you reader.

After that  I went in and flopped on the bunk bed that was mine. There were A LOT OF PEOPLE THERE, I MEAN A LOT OF PEOPLE AT THE HUT…

I had a great time tramping.
